How can managed IT services help your business?

If you have less than 50 people using IT in your business and are looking for a fixed cost technical support solution which can scale up and down then look no further than a managed service agreement from Westcom Networks.  We have 18 years experience providing managed services to small & medium businesses, home based workers, hotels and schools.  Any organisation which needs reliable IT services without the overhead of a dedicated person or team.

Westcom’s managed IT services sets itself apart from others with both the range of services offered and the structure of the support team which connects you to the right professional to get your issue resolved quickly and efficiently.   First line support and system monitoring takes place from Westcom’s two main offices in Leeds, West Yorkshire and Trowbridge, Wiltshire.  Second line engineers are based at the same locations with on-site teams using the offices as bases of operation.  A technical account manager would be the primary point of contact between the customer and Westcom.

As part of the service we wrap up all your IT requirements, which may include technical support, anti-virus software, Office 365 and even telephony in a single monthly invoice on a per user per month basis.  No expensive set-up / on-boarding fees or long term agreements.

We work with providers of any bespoke software or services which your business might currently use to provide you with a single point of contact.

Whilst the reason for moving to a managed service differs between customers, most tell us that their motivation was:

  • Predictable monthly costs which scale with the business;
  • Access to a wide skill set;
  • Preventative maintenance and monitoring;
  • Reassurance for IT security matters;
  • Data back-up services.

Ambitions Academies Trust

The challenge

A growing Trust with an enviable reputation for success within their Academies required a partner who was able to support that growth and ensure that the ICT infrastructure was fit for not only the present but also the future.  Each Academy presents its unique set of challenges, but a uniform approach was required to ensure that ICT supported each any every pupil and member of staff.

What we did

Since 2014,  Westcom has been engaged with the Trust to provide a fully outsourced ICT solution to the growing number of Academies in the primary, secondary and SEN sectors.  Remote access technology run from the Westcom helpdesk augments regular site visits to ensure that any IT issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Alongside day to day support,  Westcom has provided and installed hundreds of new computers in ICT suites, classrooms and offices to provide a uniform platform allowing staff to work from virtually any connected location.  In addition,  Westcom has provided:

  • A full migration to Office 365 across the Trust;
  • IP Cortex telephone systems in the Academies and Trust offices, interconnected to allow free calling between sites;
  • A fully refreshed virtual server infrastructure in one of the secondary school;
  • WiFi installation over a number of schools;
  • Encryption of mobile devices as part of GDPR compliance;
  • A full migration of all sites to a high speed managed internet connectivity solution;

In addition to simply resolving issues,  Westcom has been a key partner of the Trust when it comes to IT strategy matters and providing assistance on how technology can be best used to help improve teaching and learning.
