King Edward VI School vWLAN Deployment

Due to increasing demands on the wireless network,  Westcom has worked with the ICT team at King Edward VI School in Suffolk to upgrade from their traditional hardware based wireless controller to the latest BlueSocket vWLAN.

Able to support over 1,500 access points and 15,000 users,  vWLAN offers more than enough scale to support the schools BYOD plans as well as the increasing number of school owned devices - many of which don't include an Ethernet port.

Westcom has linked the wireless into the schools existing Active Directory deployment via 802.1x allowing simple and yet secure connection to the network via a users existing credentials using existing security policies to govern access.

Senior ICT Technician Stuart Whiting was delighted to be able to leverage the investment made in VMware already as well as re-using his existing 802.11n access points.
